a bouquet for cy

I first discovered Cy Twombly’s delicate polaroids
in a bookstore in New York City.
His own images of flowers, of bouquets, fading.
The imperfect moment.
The images resonated for me with a certain familiarity.
I wanted to know more, to see more.
That was 2012.

POLAROIDS

Blurred images of the every day.

Fading bouquets, seascapes, slippers.
Your slippers?
Paintbrushes left in a jar.
Your brushes?
And your favourite tulips,
peonies, roses
as they surrender
their delicate life.

Traces recorded in an instant.
